The Louisiana County Agricultural Agents Association honored several LSU AgCenter agents and specialists during its annual conference earlier this month in Baton Rouge.
Top honors presented during the June 1-4 meeting included distinguished service awards to Boyd Padgett, plant pathologist at the Macon Ridge Research Station in Winnsboro; Richard Letlow, extension agent in Morehouse Parish; and Shaney Hill, extension agent in Terrebonne Parish.
The association’s achievement awards went to extension fisheries agent David Bourgeois from Terrebonne Parish and former soybean and feed grain specialist, David Lanclos, who now is with Syngenta Crop Protection.
In addition, James Devillier, extension agent in East Feliciana Parish, was recognized for his service on the National Agricultural County Agents Associations Board.
The organization also elected officers for 2008-2009. They are Miles Brashier, extension agent in Pointe Coupee Parish, president; Brian Chandler, area forestry agent in southeastern Louisiana, president-elect; Glen Daniels, extension agent in Concordia Parish, vice president; Barrett Courville, extension agent in Acadia Parish, secretary; and Keith Normand, extension agent in St. Landry Parish, treasurer.
Ed Twidwell, an LSU AgCenter forage specialist, will remain on the board as immediate past president for the group.
Board members elected include R.L Frazier, Morehouse Parish; Matt Martin, Rapides Parish; Bobby Soileau, director of the LSU AgCenter’s Agricultural Leadership Program; and Natalie Hummel, extension entomologist.
