Areas of Specialization/Research
Areas of Research:
- Functional Foods with special interest in by-products of rice processing.
- Tocotrienols, gamma-oryzanol and wax components of rice bran as functional ingredients in food products.
- Supercritical fluid or microwave assisted extraction and high performance liquid chromatography as innovative means to obtain functional components of interest.
Future Research:
- Although limited due to imminent retirement, I still feel that I will be involved with the development of methods to increase the utilization of rice and rice components in healthy diets.
