Areas of Specialization/Research

Provide research program coordination and leadership for the LAES Central Research Station. Specific responsibilities include providing assistance in research planning, allocation of land, animal, and personnel resources, and allocation of research facilities. Other responsibilities include direction and supervision of use, inventory and maintenance of equipment, maintenance, appearance, upkeep, safety, and biosecurity of all physical resources (land, plants, animals, buildings, and equipment) located at the Central Station units.

  • Statewide evaluations of commercial rice varieties and advanced experimental lines for yield improvement - main and ratoon crop evaluation.
  • Improvement of fertilizer efficiency in flooded rice culture.
    Conservation tillage - improvement of water quality and reduction in soil and nutrient losses.
  • Evaluation of sustainable rice production practices.
  • Assessment of gaseous emissions from flooded rice culture.
  • Red rice control in conservation tillage systems.
  • Wheat and soybean plant population dynamics.
  • Rotational crops in rice production systems.
