Postharvest Physiology of Horticultural Crops Tropical and Sub-Tropical HorticultureInternational Trade and Market Development
Dr. Picha’s research involves the postharvest physiology and technology of fruit and vegetable crops. Areas of interest include sweetpotato carbohydrate metabolism, product nutritional and compositional analysis, modified atmosphere packaging, controlled atmosphere storage, value-added product development, and export market development of horticultural crops.
Dr. Picha is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Vegetable Science and regularly reviews manuscripts for the Journal of American Society for Horticulture Science, HortScience, HortTechnology, Journal of Food Quality, Postharvest Biology and Biotechnology, and the Journal of Food Science. He serves on multiple committees in the American Society of Horticulture Science and Institute of Food Technologists.
Dr. Picha has conducted numerous USDA Cochran Fellow training programs and international training workshops on production, postharvest care, and marketing of horticulture crops throughout the world.
