The 12th Louisiana Plant Materials Conference has been scheduled for Wednesday October 29th at the Hammond Research Station.

The event, co-sponsored by the LSU AgCenter and the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association, is an educational program designed for nursery and landscape professionals. The meeting will showcase new landscape plants and ornamental plants of interest.

Speakers at this year’s meeting include Gary Bachman, Mississippi State University; Severn Doughty, Jr., Bracy’s Nursery in Amite; Michele Andre, Ball Horticultural Company; Buddy Lee, Plant Development Services, Inc., and Rick Webb, Louisiana Growers in Amite. LSU AgCenter horticulturists speaking will include Dan Gill discussing top plants for nursery producers to grow, retailers to sell, and landscapers to use, Yan Chen on ornamental peppers and Allen Owings on new liriope cultivars and an overview of ornamental plant evaluations from the last couple years.

The conference begins at 9 am and concludes at 3:30 pm. There is a conference registration fee of $25. Pre-registration is required and seating is limited. The Hammond Research Station is located at 21549 Old Covington Highway in Hammond.
