Foundation Staff Outstanding Service Award

Each year Louisiana State University, the LSU AgCenter, and the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center recognize and award the superior work performance and outstanding contributions of full-time, non-academic staff employees. The recipients will be honored and presented with recognition certificates and $500.00 cash awards at an awards reception sponsored by the Staff Outstanding Service Awards Committee and funded by the LSU Foundation and the Chancellors of the campuses involved.

All full-time, non-academic University employees are eligible for awards, and any full-time staff or faculty member may make a nomination. These awards are intended as incentives for outstanding or innovative service to the University rather than awards for length of service. Nominations, therefore, should focus on the specific accomplishments and innovative achievements of the employee being nominated.

Eligibility Criteria

All full-time, non-academic University employees are eligible for awards, and any full-time staff or faculty member may make a nomination. These awards are intended as incentives for outstanding or innovative service to the University rather than awards for length of service. Nominations, therefore, should focus on the specific accomplishments and innovative achievements of the employee being nominated.

Nomination Criteria

Your nomination should be brief, to the point, and limited to one typewritten page. Specific illustrations of how the nominee fulfills requirements of the indicated categories will greatly aid the judges in evaluating the application. It is entirely possible that a nominee is not ranked as outstanding in every category; one area may outweigh another. Job performance is the most important consideration for the award. Therefore, rather than outline the nominee’s duties, the nomination should describe how the nominee has demonstrated superior work performance. Letters of recommendation and supplemental material will not be considered.

Selection of Award Recipient

A panel of judges from outside the LSU System is appointed by the awards committee. This panel screens nominations and makes objective decisions based on written material presented. Awards committee members and judges should not be personally contacted on behalf of nominees. Keep in mind that the only information judges will have about the nominee is the written nomination and job description. Judges will not be employees of or associated with the three campuses. Committee members are in no way involved with the selection process.
