Training & Education

One important goal of ABL is to educate the public about great successes that biotechnology already brings to increase prosperity to our society and stimulate the economic future of Louisiana. We aim to disseminate the benefits of biotechnology for our state to the public at large and teachers and students at middle and high school levels. We will create an educational base that will facilitate development of a biotechnological infrastructure, new jobs and establishment of technology-based businesses in Louisiana.

We have five principal goals:

  1. Familiarize the general public about REAL biotechnology with all pros and cons.
  2. Educate farmers and businesses about application of biotechnology in their businesses.
  3. Train teachers throughout the state to incorporate biotechnical education in middle and high school and familiarize new generations with career opportunities in biotech.
  4. Provide workshops on advanced molecular biology and biotechnology techniques.
  5. Prepare students at all levels, undergraduate, graduate and post doctoral training, to become qualified specialists in the biotechnical industry so that they can qualify for high-paying jobs.
