Camping is one of the most valuable experiences a child can have. It’s a learning experience that helps boys and girls appreciate the outdoors, live together as a group, get along with others and appreciate people with different interests and backgrounds.
4-H Summer Camp is open to 4th-6th graders. Campers choose from one of six activity tracks to participate in during their week at camp. Campers also have recreational time to swim, create handcrafted items, archery, canoeing and kayaking, sand volleyball, kickball, board games, tubing and much more! Our evening programs are fun and filled with skits, talent shows, vespers, dances and special guest speakers.

The camp is held at the LSU AgCenter’s Camp Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center, an 80 plus acre campsite in Pollock, LA., on Highway 8 about 15 miles northeast of Alexandria, LA.
One of the important things children learn from camp is to be self-sufficient. That is, they learn they can survive for four whole days on their own. Our weekly camps start on Monday afternoon, when the boys and girls arrive, and end on Friday morning after breakfast. The first meal served at camp is dinner on Monday night. To help children learn self-sufficiency, parents are asked not to call or visit campers unless there is an emergency. At 4-H Summer Camp we build an environment where your child will feel safe and a sense of belonging. 4-H agents, volunteer leaders and teen counselors attend and stay in the cabins with the campers and camp staff are available at all times. Please make sure that you are familiar with the check-in and check-out procedures prior to visiting camp.
We look forward to seeing your child this summer!
