Benjamin "Buck" Owens
I started the 4-H program in 4th grade. It was a spontaneous decision that changed my life literally, forever. I loved 4-H from the very beginning and served as officers throughout elementary and junior high school. I became very active in 4-H about 1 year ago after I made a split-second decision to go to 4-H Challenge Camp and I decided I must become more involved. I then ran from the floor (at the last minute) for Northeast Regional Representative, and I won. That sparked an interest in the state Executive Committee. Having one year on the State Executive Committee has given me a lot of experience and knowledge about what positions I would enjoy and excel in. I desire mostly to be the State Parliamentarian and I believe with one year of extra experience I will be an outstanding candidate for this office and other state offices. I was the male recipient of the leadership award at my high school for this school year. It was an honor and I’m very grateful. I can only hope I move forward on the Executive Committee and show all 4-H’ers how they can put their leadership skills to use just like me.
