Pet and Animal Grants

Below is a list of pet and animal grant resources if you are looking to fund a pet-related service project.

* American Kennel Club

This organization has grants available for rescuing pets, especially dogs in disasters through their AKC CAR Canine Support and Relief Fund. 10 pages of grant application are provided online, and this grant may burst up to $10,000. However, the applicants need to specify their goals and detail expenses.

* Maddie’s Fund

Maddie’s Fund is based in California. Inspired from miniature schnauzer named Maddie, their mission is “no kill nation.” They want to make sure all pets in the U.S. find their home, so they financially support organizations that work in the same field. They also have Lifesaving Award that can provide grants up to $3,000,000.

*Animal Welfare Trust

Animal Welfare Trust's grant program seeks to assist organizations whose work can help alleviate animal suffering and/or raise public consciousness toward giving animals the respect they so need and deserve. Although general organizational funding will be considered, preference will be given to well-defined projects with clear goals and objectives. Capital projects will not be considered. Areas of priority include farm animal welfare, vegetarianism and humane education.

*Glaser Progress Foundation

As Mahatma Gandhi famously said, "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Helping to create a more compassionate community, the foundation partners with area animal shelters and rescue groups working to create an environment where there awaits a good, loving home for every cat and dog in need.

*ASPCA

ASPCA grants provide support to a variety of U.S.-based, non-profit animal welfare organizations through cash awards, sponsorships, executive and technical assistance, and training. While they do not place a ceiling on grant amounts, most grants range between $500 and $5,000. Please bear this in mind when submitting your request.

* The William and Charlotte Parks Foundation for Animal Welfare

The William and Charlotte Parks Foundation for Animal Welfare provides grants for humane programs, including grassroots activities or academic studies in areas such as humane treatment of animals used in research and education; research on euthanasia methods; humane treatment and handling of animals raised for food; population control of companion animals and so-called pest animals; and international projects to improve conditions for animals. Awards may also be given for projects that benefit animals, shelter construction or general operating costs. Grants will not normally be awarded to improve animal health, assist local spay/neuter efforts, save endangered species, rehabilitate wildlife or support political candidates.
