Each month, 12 students taking a life skills class learning basic home economics skills share those skills with others. They have shared their talents with the residents at Timberlake Nursing Home by providing monthly table decorations for the cafeteria that they have made. (Some of the students even go back during the month and provide musical entertainment for the residents on Sunday afternoons.)
One 5th-grade student used her cake-decorating skills she learned in the class to make a cake for their school’s cake auction. She was thrilled when the school made $50 from her cake.
The goal of the project was to create a fun learning experience for the youth and teach them the joy of sharing their talents with others. They reflect each week on how they can serve others and make a difference
