Fashion Board Serves Children’s Hospital
The goals of this project were to develop and improve board member skills in clothing construction, leadership and organization; learn to plan and conduct educational programs for younger 4-H members related to the fashion project; provide direct service projects for the children’s hospital; and plan and conduct a fashion show as a fund raiser for the children’s hospital. The fashion board made and stuffed about 90 Christmas stockings and delivered them to pediatric patients in December 2007. The board planned and conducted a fashion show which was a fund raiser for the OLOL Children’s Hospital. They were involved in all stages of planning, preparing and conducting the show. Board members had a holiday dinner after the visit to the children’s hospital as a celebration. The final meeting of the fashion board was a social event at Chili’s in Zachary for members and volunteers. For reflection, there was discussion and an evaluation. This project accounted for 120 hours and reached 75 people.
