4-H youth from across the nation will be “Celebrating 4-H” as they celebrate 2009 National 4-H Week October 4-10. 4-H'ers will celebrate 4-H and the founding principle of the program, "learn by doing." The fundamental 4-H ideal of practical, “learn by doing” experiences encourage youth to experiment, innovate and think independently. 4-H programs are offered through school-based, after-school and camp settings and within community clubs. To help celebrate National 4-H Week Louisiana 4-H members will join millions of other 4-H’ers across the nation in participating in a science and technology project. They will make ethanol, one of the most common biofuels in the country.

4-H is a community of 6 million young people across America learning leadership, citizenship and life skills.
