More than 1,200 4-H'ers attend each year.

Teen leaders from around the state enjoy a tour and dinner at the Governor's Mansion.

More than 1,200 4-H members from all 64 parishes participate in the annual 4-H Day at the Capitol each year. The entire delegations have an opportunity to visit with their senators and representatives and are treated to a tour of the State Capitol. In addition, 4-H members learn about the legislative process, and some 4-H members even participate in mock voting in the House chamber.

Each year the House prepares a proclamation in the name of 4-H for the annual 4-H Day at the Capitol. 4-H Day at the Capitol begins with an assembly on the Capitol steps with several legislators participating along with the state 4-H officers and LSU AgCenter Chancellor Bill Richardson, Vice Chancellor Paul Coreil and Associate Vice Chancellor Dwight Landreneau. State 4-H officers and administrators are introduced to the House and Senate during the evening sessions. The state 4-H President has an opportunity to address the House on 4-H every year. Immediately following the assembly, 4-H members wearing their 4-H Day at the Capitol shirts are on the Capitol steps, the rotunda, legislative offices and all over the Capitol learning about the Capitol and the legislative process.

A dinner at the Governor’s Mansion, sponsored by TJ Ribs, is held for 4-H members who serve on the six leadership boards each year. The dinner provides an opportunity for 4-H members to receive an educational tour of the mansion and meet with some of Governor Jindal’s staff.
