Being on the State 4-H Fashion Board is an experience of a lifetime. Louisiana’s 4-H Textile and Apparel Program features fun and educational workshops and events throughout the year. One 4-H Fashion workshop better known as 4-H Project Runway has to be the best experience any sewer can have! Find others who love fashion and sewing in your area and organize your own Project Runway event!

This activity challenged each fashion board member to make a complete new outfit from clothes purchased from a local thrift store. Each was given a spending limit of $20 and a time limit of 30 minutes. The real challenge was that we were only given 10 hours to completely redesign our newly recreated outfits. The idea was horrifying at first, but once we were given instructions, we had a general idea of what we wanted to do. And then, the challenge became even more challenging!

We learned the basics of design. This project covered everything from the creativity of the first sketch to the final sketch of the exact outfit once it was completed. I definitely gained much knowledge and hands-on training through this activity.
