Oh! So Healthful Italian Cooking For Kids

There will be a healthful Italian cooking workshop for 4-H'ers held at the Grant Parish Extension Office on Wednesday, November 25, 2009. Participants will have the opportunity to learn basic food skills, nutrition games, food safety bingo and kitchen safety. The cost is $10.00. St. James Food Fest

The 4-H Food Fest will be held in conjunction with the 4-H Idol. Contests include egg cookery, ground beef cookery, seafood cookery, poultry cookery and sugar cookery. All 4-H’ers are eligible to participate and may enter only one dish per contest. Parish winners may be eligible to compete in district cookery contests in March or April. Be sure to read the rules and regulations, attached, very carefully! Remember to label your dishes and bring a neat well-written or typed copy of your recipe including name and school printed on the back. NOTE: All dishes (with the exception of cookies, candies and some cakes) must be brought to the contest cold (on ice and in an ice chest).

Florida Parishes Skeet and Gun Club
Open to all 4-H'ers in St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington parishes. Youth should bring their own gun and it must be in a case. Youth will be responsible for their own shells. Only sizes 7.5, 8, or 9 will be allowed. 20-gauge shotguns will be available for anyone who does not own a gun. All youth will be charged $5.00 to help offset the cost of targets. Directions: About 2 miles east of Amite, take Hwy. 1054 north, go about .6 mile and turn onto VFW Road.
