The Rapides Parish Fair will host the 2011 Open Goat Show on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, on the Rapides Parish Coliseum Fairgrounds on Highway 28 West in Alexandria, Louisiana. Below are the premiums, rules and regulations for the show.

Premiums
1st place - $20.00
2nd place - $17.50
3rd place - $15.00
4th place - $12.50
5th Place -$10.00
Rules and Regulations
1. All classes of this division are open to youth exhibitors from Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Catahoula, Concordia, Evangeline, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Sabine, St. Landry, Vernon, West Feliciana and Winn Parishes. Exhibitors from other parishes will be notified after the entry deadline date, provided that barn space is available.
2. Exhibitors must be less than 20 years old as of Jan. 1, 2011, to be eligible to participate in the show.
3. Animals may enter the barn beginning at noon on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, and must be in the barn by noon on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011. All goats must remain in the barn until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011.
4. Entry forms may be obtained from your local county agent and must be postmarked on or before Oct. 3, 2011, to be eligible to participate in the Open Junior Goat Show. These forms should be mailed to: Rapides Parish Fair, 300 Grady Britt Drive, Alexandria, LA 71302
5. All animals must be registered with their respective breed associations and transferred to the name of the youth exhibitor by the entry deadline, Oct. 3, 2011, to be eligible to participate in the Youth Open Goat Breeding Show.
6. Exhibitors will be limited to one animal per class with one exception: The Market Class is limited to three total entries.
7. All exhibitors are required to furnish water, feed troughs, feed and hay. No hay is to be used for feed or bedding in bedding area. Exhibitors will be responsible the for care of their animals, cleaning stalls and aisles during fair.
8. All animals must be tied in their assigned spaces from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. each day, except for grooming and exhibiting. Exhibitors violating this rule will forfeit premium money.
9. Premium checks will be mailed to exhibitors following the show. Exhibitors who leave prior to the release time will forfeit all premium money.
10. Exhibitors are required to show their own animal.
Market Goat Division
1. All goats must be dehorned.
2. All goats must not show evidence of permanent incisors.
3. Wether or doe goats are eligible to show.
4. All goats will be weighed individually and classified into divisions. Goats eligible to show must be a minimum of 45 pounds. There is no maximum weight.
5. All goats must be slicked sheared within seven days prior to the show.
6 Market Goats must be dehorned, polled or disbudded. Any scurs or horn structures must be blunted and not exceed one inch in length.
7. Champion Market Goat will receive $100.00
8. Reserve Champion Market Goat will receive $50.00
Commercial Doe Show
1. Spring doeling: must have no visible evidence of the emergence of part or all of one or both of the first pair of permanent incisors.
2. Yearling doe: two and four teeth are allowed.
3. Aged Do: six teeth and more.
4. Does showing in the commerical market doe classes cannot be entered or show in the Market Goat division.
5. All commercial market does must have an ear tage for identification in the class.
6. Commercial does can be show with hari or slick sheared.
7. All commercial does may be shown with horns or dehorned.
Junior Breeding Goat Show
1. All breeding goats must have registration papers. They may be purebred or percentage does.
2. Breeds for breeding goats: a) Registered Full Blood; b) Regisitered Percentage; c) AOB
