Beauregard 4-H youth had the opportunity to represent Beauregard Parish at annual 4-H summer Camp June 28- July 2, 2010 held at Camp Grant Walker Educational Center. This 2010 theme was "Get in Touch with 4-H at Camp Grant Walker." This camp, with its educational activities and programs, is a program of the LSU AgCenter. Youth had the opportunity to swim, canoe and play softball, volleyball, basketball, parachute games and ping pong and participate in handicrafts, dances and many other fun activities.

Youth also participated in educational activities throughout the week. Participants could select educational tracks to increase their knowledge and help build life skills. Educational tracts offered were: Dramatic Arts, Nutrition and Fitness, Outdoor Adventures, Science, Engineering & Technology, Hunter’s Safety, Victory Gardens and Louisiana’s Wetlands. Youth attending chose one track and received nine hours of training in that topic field.

Beauregard youth camped with nearly 500 other youth from the parishes of Ascension, Beauregard, Bienville, Claiborne, Lincoln, St. James, and St. Mary. Thanks to our Junior Counselors Jesse Elliott and Kelsey Johnson. Also thanks to Mrs. Lezlie Midkiff for supervising our parish girls, Mr. Hank Cooley for transporting our campers to and from camp, Beauregard Parish School Board for providing transportation and Mrs. Lisa Johnson for helping make sure the paperwork was done.

Those wishing to attend 4-H camp in 2011 should join 4-H during our September 2010 4-H meetings.
