The application for Undergraduate Admission and Scholarship serves as the general application for all scholarships available at LSU for entering freshmen, including college and departmental awards; however, the School of Renewable Natural Resources requests that you complete a supplemental scholarship form, which will provide us with additional evaluation materials.

For full scholarship consideration, scholarship applications should be submitted by November 15 of a student's high school senior year. All scholarship awards are based on academic merit and financial need. All of the following awards to full-time students and all are competitive.

Paul Y. Burns
Junior or senior student in RNR with minimum of 3.0 GPA

Norwin E. Linnartz
Any fulltime student majoring in forestry with 2.75 GPA. Personal interview required. The award is given by the Louisiana Forestry Foundation.

Thomas Hansbrough
Any fulltime student majoring in forestry with 2.75 GPA. Personal interview required. The award is given by the Louisiana Forestry Foundation.

FWF Alumni
Entering freshman at LSU majoring in forestry, wildlife or fisheries with a minimum ACT score of 28. May be awarded to other qualified students on a semester-by-semester basis

William A. Knight Forestry
Entering freshman at LSU majoring in forestry with a minimum ACT score of 25. May be awarded to other qualified students on a semester-by-semester basis.

Lehmann
Entering freshman at LSU majoring in forestry, wildlife or fisheries with a minimum ACT score of 28. May be awarded to other qualified students on a semester-by-semester basis

Leslie Glasglow Bicentennial
Junior or senior in forestry, wildlife or fisheries.

Marc Dupuy, Jr. Wildlife Conservation

Traditionally awarded to an undergraduate student in wood utilization.

 F. O. Bateman Memorial
Sophomore student majoring in forestry, wildlife and fisheries.

A. Bigler Crow Forestry
Awarded to outstanding student in Spring Forestry Camp

Hunter Barrilleaux Memorial
One-time award to an outstanding student in forestry, wildlife or fisheries

Billy W. Weaver Memorial
Sophomore, junior or senior majoring in forestry.

Ben Meadows Natural Resource
Scholarships will be administered through the Society of American Foresters (SAF). All scholarship hopefuls must be enrolled in an SAF-accredited (or non-SAF accredited) or SAF-candidate curriculum as a junior or senior enrolled in a natural resource program working toward a bachelor of arts or science degree, which includes, but not limited to, agro forestry, urban forestry, environmental studies, natural resource management, natural resource recreation, wildlife management, wood science and fisheries management. Rockefeller State Wildlife

Graduate Scholarships & Awards

Ben and Pauline Stanley Excellence Award for Outstanding Graduate Students Louisiana State University School of Renewable Natural Resources

The Ben and Pauline Stanley Graduate Student Excellence Award recognizes doctoral and master’s students who have made outstanding contributions to research, service or teaching in the School of Renewable Natural Resources (SRNR). This award symbolizes the School’s commitment to excellence in graduate education. If deserving candidates are identified, these annual awards will be presented to a doctoral student and a master’s student from the SRNR who will use this award to advance their graduate education.

Eligibility: To be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in the SRNR. Ph.D. students are eligible to apply after successful completion of their general examinations. Master’s students are eligible for the award after the completion of 75% (18 hours) of their coursework (only current students are eligible).

Criteria: Successful nominees should demonstrate evidence of research (e.g., publications, presentations, etc.), service (e.g., School, University, public, etc.) or instruction (e.g., lectures, laboratory instruction, etc.). A student’s application should include the following documentation:

- A cover letter outlining the applicant’s qualifications and career goals

- A letter recommendation of no more than one page from a professor in the School that outlines the applicant’s qualifications.

The applicant's vitae of no more than three pages, made relevant to the award criteria and emphasizing work done at LSU. The applicant’s vita should include the following information:

- Name
- Contact information
- Date of enrollment in current graduate degree program
- Degree program
- Major professor
- Current GPA
- Professional experience
- Professional meetings and conferences attended
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings
- Professional presentations and posters
- Leadership and participation in student clubs, professional   
  organizations, or other
  organizations or groups

Award: Recipients will receive a plaque and a $500 award presented at the annual SRNR awards banquet.

Selection Procedure:  Application materials will be reviewed by the SRNR Graduate Committee prior to making the award. Award recommendations from the committee will be forwarded to the Director.

Application Deadline:  Application documentation is due in the School office (227 RNR Building) no later than COB 9 February 2009. For further information on this award, please contact Bill Kelso.



Clark M. Hoffpauer Scholarship for Wildlife Graduate Students
Louisiana State University School of Renewable Natural Resources

The Clark M. Hoffpauer Memorial Fund has been established to benefit students enrolled in the wildlife graduate program in the School of Renewable Natural Resources. The gift honors the memory of Clark M. Hoffpauer who received his Masters of Science in Wildlife Management from Louisiana State University in the 1960's. He was a lifelong pilot, adventurer and avid sportsman. During his distinguished career he served as director of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, where he began his career as a biologist in 1950. During his tenure as LDWF director he was responsible for the acquisition of five game management areas in Louisiana. He served as president for the Southeastern Game and Fish Commissioners Association and was instrumental in the return of the endangered brown pelican, changing legislation for alligator management and many other innovative studies and practices that are in place today. After he left public service he started an environmental consulting firm that help develop spill emergency plans for many Louisiana refineries. In 1972 he received the Louisiana Conservation of the Year Award.

The recipient must have an overall grade point average of at least 3.0. Financial need may be a consideration.
