Frost damage on wheat is caused by temperatures below the freezing point. On wheat, it is hard to diagnose frost damage since it rarely produces noticeable symptoms. The severity of damage depends on different factors including the stage of kernel development and the degree and duration of exposure to cold weather. Discoloration of the leaf blades on turfgrass caused by cold damage. The damage results from freezing of crown tissues, the plant parts responsible for shoot and root development. This type of injury is frequently associated with the inability of the plants to conduct water, resulting in plant dehydration.
